The New York Association of Black Journalists is pleased to accept entries for its annual Excellence in Media Contest. The program recognizes the best of print, online, broadcast, photo and video journalism coverage of Black innovation, issues, communities and people.
The deadline to enter the contest is 11:59 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2025.
Entries must have been published or broadcast between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2024, by media outlets based in the New York metro area. If submitting an entry in the Series & Investigative subcategory, the majority of the work entered must have been published or broadcast in 2024.
The fee to enter the contest is $100 per entry until Dec. 1, 2024. As of Dec. 2, 2024 the price will be $150 per entry.
NYABJ reserves the right to reassign contest entries to different categories or subcategories.
The contest will be judged by seasoned professional journalists outside the New York metro area. Decisions are final.
Judges may elect not to give an award in a category.
Contest finalists will be announced in April. Winners will be announced at NYABJ’s 4th Annual Juneteenth Gala & Awards Ceremony on June 19.
