New York Association of Black Journalists Media Awards 2019 Competition

NYABJ aims to recognize exemplary coverage of people of color and issues affecting the African/African-American Diaspora. The NYABJ Media Awards competition is open to staff and freelance journalists in print, broadcast and online news media for news organizations within New York state. Only work originally published or broadcast in 2018 is eligible. Individuals must provide a web link of each submission. If submissions do not exist on a website, entrants may also upload them to YouTube (see YouTube for instructions). Please note: new this year is the “Excellence in Student Journalism” category for entries from undergraduate and graduate school journalists.

RULES AND ELIGIBILITY

Entries may consist of a single piece or series of pieces focused on the same topic. Entries will be judged on content, creativity, innovation, use of the medium and relevance to the African-American community/African diaspora. The same entry may not be submitted in more than one category. Entries may be submitted by a single journalist, a team of journalists or newsroom manager/coordinator. Journalists of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Entries will be judged by members of an NABJ-affiliated chapter. Decisions are final.

PAYMENT

Paid NYABJ members may submit up to two entries for $55. Non NYABJ members may submit one entry for $55. No more than two entries per entry form are allowed. Contest opens April 1 and closes . Questions? Email: Awards@NYABJ.org
